The House will impeach. McConnell and Graham have both admitted that they will not be impartial jurors and are coordinating with Trump. If they take the special impeachment oath they will be in violation of it immediately, so if they don’t recuse the trial will rightfully be seen as being rigged. Trump will not be exonerated even if the Senate does not impeach him. By protecting Trump it may very well backfire against Republicans in the next election because the American people expect an impartial and thorough process.

What do you mean he will not be “exonerated” even if the senate does not impeach him? Isn’t only the senate allowed to give a “sentence” in the trial?

Trump has just been impeached on both Article 1 and Article 2.
